THE STORY
2 DJs, 2 Dads, 1 Vision. Diggy The Dj and Rynecologist met in the Toronto DJ scene where both have maintained long lasting, celebrated careers. As parents, late nights and early mornings are commonplace. Their love and passion for music and art is only eclipsed by the love for their families. The two entrepreneurs are constantly seeking new creative endeavours and teamed up to create ABCDJ, a book which serves as an ode to the DJ culture and community. This is not your average alphabet book! The thoughtfully curated and detailed illustration book is a visually griping art piece, insightful coffee table book and must have collector’s item for music lovers of all ages. We understand the positive influence music has on the world as a whole, and will be donating proceeds from every sale to the Regent Park School of Music.
Regent Park School of Music is a community music school that gives young people aged 4-18 from low-income families living in high-risk neighbourhoods a quality music education, instruments and once-in-a-lifetime performance and leadership opportunities in a safe, creative environment where they can thrive. RPSM becomes a “second family”, inspiring and engaging the kids to raise their aspirations and belief in themselves. Founded in 1999, the school has grown from 71 students to now reach hundreds of students across the city, offering after-school, weekend and March Break and Summer Camp music programs. Students learning music at RPSM develop creativity, discipline, persistence, teamwork, improved cognitive skills, communication and leadership techniques. RPSM’s 40 music faculty and incredible performance and creative opportunities open their minds and hearts, and broaden their perspective of the world they live in. RPSM’s music programs give their students a creative and nurturing place, where they can, through music, increase their cultural capital and acquire character traits and life skills that help them graduate high school, go on to post-secondary education to find meaningful employment and forge a bright future for themselves, their families and their communities.
